Secondary education is offered on completion of primary school, and before higher, optional education usually offering general, technical, vocational, or college-preparatory courses. Secondary schooling has two levels known as Ordinary or "O" level, which extends from form one through form four, and culminates with an examination leading to the National School Certificate award and Advanced or "A" level.

The POPATLAL chain of schools falls under the sole ownership of the Registered Trustees of the Tanga Education Society herein after referred to as "The Society." These are a set of built in succession, starting with a secondary school way down to a nursery school (Kindergarten). These educational development units were established in memory of a businessman Popatlal Bhanji Laxman, whose son died in a motor accident on 14th April 1963, hence the common usage of the name "POPATLAL."
The constituent units of the "POPATLAL" are briefly described hereunder. All the schools are co-educational in composition and are built upon an equal opportunity, gender, and social class basis. They are all located within reach of the sunny sand beaches of the shores of the Indian Ocean in the Central Zone of the City of Tanga.
It gives me immense pleasure to mark this historic milestone for our Tanga Education Society in establishing its Website.
